12900k is more than enough especially if you're gaming at 4k resolution, which is an entirely GPU bound scenario. Check attached image, you could go down 2 generations in CPU and not notice any intelligible difference while playing at 4k. And if you're not playing at 4k, why bother with a 4090 anyway?

Please try again later.The 12900k will be fine, if you play at ultra high frame rate 1080p or even 1440p then some games will see a bottleneck and the 13900k is not likely to resolve that (the 7950x certainly does not). If you play at 4K then it's much less of a concern where most games will be GPU limited.
