The Best Buy employees are the scalpers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Best buy don't give a crap about its customers or it would set stock for instore only sales.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Best Buy employees are most definitely NOT scalping these as they can't get their hands on them either. As an employee, I waited in the online queue just like everyone did to try to buy a 5080 but to no avail and I am in management. There are strict rules about new release items. The re-sellers online ruin these kind of releases for everyone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Best Buy has a queue to allow customers to purchase and you will be moved through the queue and it should slow bots. But it can’t stop scalpers because nothing can stop resale but stopping bots from bulk buying should help.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If any retailer cared enough to spend money to develop customer loyalty, wouldn't it be possible to hire an IT consulting firm to utilize AI to learn from their past online sales records how to identify who are the scalpers and who are the long-term repeat individual quantity buyers from their past purchase behavior? Then assign each pre-sale buyer a score that determines their priority during a pre-sale period before important product release dates. Then the day before the release, announce who will be getting 1 and only 1 of the limited quantity at launch. For example, someone who has been a My Best Buy Member who regularly buys 1 or 2 of various different products steadily over the course of a decade should get higher priority than someone who is not a My Best Buy Member. And a brand new My Best Buy account that was just created without any previous purchase history should have the lowest priority to get something at launch. I know it's not a perfect solution, but it's better than first-come first-served based on how fast a scalper's bot can snag multiple cards, even if it is only 1 card per purchase from several accounts (even from different IP addresses) with no previous purchase history, which can still add up for a single scalper to get a large quantity.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They do not. I swooped a 5080 from MSI directly. I suggest cutting best buy completely out and going direct if you can for whatever GPU you look at.
