• It currently doesn't really matter when comparing specs. Apple tv does support HDMI 2.1 but does not support 4k @120hz currently, which is the main reason to move to hdmi 2.1.

• No not at all. The sound is way better on the shield than the Apple TV. More apps that you need to make a cord cutter happy.

• Not really everything still runs great without hdmi 2.1 support buy it you will not regret it
