The back slides down two AA batteries. Very easy batteries last for a good amount of time.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.For some reason they made it crazy hard to open the remote to replace the batteries. If you examine the back of the remote you will see a small triangle. You need to push the back cover from that top of the remove (where the IR lens is and where the triangle is) towards the bottom of the remote. Eventually the cover will slide down and you will be able to replace the batteries.
