VLC player is fully supported on the Nvidia Shield. It has been able to play every file I have thrown at it so far. VLC is the bomb.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.VLC is the best player on Nvidia Shield especially after the most recent update to version 3.0. It can play any type file you throw at it. Very smooth playback. I like it better than kodi. No black screens or audio skips like Kodi. Highly recommend VLC.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes you can install VLC. Nvidia Shield can play the most video formats than my other streamers, I also have Roku 4 and Amazon tv, and Nvidia is better than both for streaming, especially if you are casting from your phone.
