QuestionCan this record if placed inside a back pack bag? what's the maximum distance that device can record a lecture clearly? thanks.I'm going to use it in a classroom where the instructor won't allow the students to use a recorder.

- Answer Distance is not the concern in this situation. The Volume of of the speaker is what is important. If the volume is loud enough the recorder will surely pick up the audio.

- Answer This recorder is a stand alone device and does not offer computer connection. I suggest looking at the VN-8100PC.

- Answer The VN-7000 does not have a PC connection. The Olympus VN-8100PC can download voice files to PC.

QuestionCan a speaker be plugged into it and are the words clear?I want to record my karate class, bring the recorder home and redo the class by listening to the recording and following the instructions. My mini tape recorder does not pick up the class clear enough even though the recorder is close and visible.

- Answer This is a stand alone recorder and does not offer computer connectivity. I suggest a VN PC version, WS or DM series recorder.

QuestionOlympus® VN-7000 Digital Recorder from Office DepotI was doing some comparing between the Olympus® VN-7000 Digital Recorder from Best buy and the Olympus® VN-7000 Digital Recorder from Office depot. Best buy's say's no pc connection but the Office Depot say's PC Connectable. Which is Right?

- Answer The VN-7000 does not offer USB connectivity. I suggest considering the VN-7600PC or VN-8100PC.

QuestionIs it capable of voice to print or voice to type?Can this recorder be used with software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking, wherein you can record your work, then hook it up to your laptop, open up Word, & then the recorder will automatically type the work onto your Word document? If so, is there any addtional accessories I need to purchase?

- Answer I suggest the VN-8100PC recorder for this purpose. The VN-7000 does not offer an USB connection.

- Answer This recorder does not have the ability to download recordings to the computer. It is intended as a stand alone device. I suggest looking at the VN-8100PC.

QuestionI have this recorder and the volume control will not respond to the + or - to change the volume. I select the play button and then select the - key and "Volume" appears in the screen, but then I cannot change the volume. It is on 0 now .

- Answer The VN-7000 does not offer USB connectivity. So recording cannot be downloaded. I suggest the VN-8100PC and the TP-7 Telephone recording device.

- Answer This recorder does not offer USB connectivity. The recordings cannot be downloaded. I suggest looking at the VN-8100PC. The best recorders for music are our linear PCM recorders. I suggest also considering the LS-7 or LS-11.
