Yes. I just set this up over the weekend to play Pandora through DTV to my patio speakers. I have HDMI from my DTV to the reciever for 5.1 in my living room. I also connected Red/White composite from DTV to the reciever. Connect zone two speakers and go though the reciever's settings menu to turn on Zone two. Press zone two on the reciever and select the input that you connected. You can have different volume levels for the main room and zone two, so you may need to press zone two the volume on your reciver remote to adjust the zone two's volume level.

If you turn on the Zone 2 speakers than it will deactivate the Surround/Height Speaker terminals. So it is one or the other. On the second zone you can play either the same thing as the Main Zone (The 5.1 setup) or you can play a different input that is NOT HDMI, Digital Optical, Digital Coaxial. So basically you can play any music via bluetooth of the DLNA or plug in a MP3 player into the phono once you buy an adapter for 1/4 to 1/8. If you are wanting to get the speakers into your kitchen as I well I would highly recommend this wireless speaker kit. It says "rear" however it will work for any speakers. it will allow you to avoid running wires though the attic or the ground if you have a 2 story.
