- Answer ARC is Audio Return Channel through the HDMI port and the Onkyo 686 supports it. If your TV supports ARC, you can run its audio through the receiver. If not, there is a port on the 686 that accepts audio from the TV. There is also a fiber optic port that lets you input digital audio from the TV.

- Answer Set it up initially with a TV for your uses. You’ll be able to use it for radio and Sonos afterwards without issue. It has a mini screen for general use.

QuestionReceived "NO SIGNAL" from projector screen after connected EPSON HC3800 projector to "MAIN" HDMI output of Onkyo AVR TX-NR686. Followed user's guide still cannot see anything on screen due to no signal. Is this because HDMI HDCP 2.2 vs 2.0 issues? Thanks

QuestionWill signal to optical input automatically wake up the receiver from standby? (ie- to behave like a soundbar does; my TV doesn't have HDMI ARC, want to use optical) Will it wake up with bluetooth signal?

QuestionThe speaker connections are labeled in the specs as RCA types. Will it also allow for screw-type connections of stranded wire?

- Answer Yes, it does. The screw terminals also accept banana plugs if your speaker wires terminate in them.

QuestionHello , I recently purchased this unit and I was curious if I can use my old speakers for the system until my new ones come in . The old ones are 3ohm / 150hz. Speakers come from my old Samsung HT-X70 system . I am using my ML Dynamo 700W sub instead.

QuestionThe speakers I have are energy take 5 classic speakers for satellite which are 8 ohm speakers . I just bought Pioneer ELITE SP-EBS73-LR which are 4 ohm speakers with up firing atmos speakers. Will this receiver work with this speaker setup? Thanks
