Yes 5.1.4 is what I have setup with this receiver. You need a 9 channel receiver like this one to do it. I'm really impressed with this receiver. It sounds really good and before purchasing, I did research on other brands and none came close to the features versus price comparison. It has features like THX and IMAX decoding that other brands don't have that cost more. The user interface and on-screen menus make setup a breeze. I'm really happy with this receiver.
