• A:Answer No. You can determine this by how many channels it supports. This is 7.2, so 7 speakers and 2 subwoofers. If you are looking to get the standard surround sound (center, front left, front right, rear left, rear right) + the Atmos height channels (front left height, front right height, rear left height, rear right height) you would need 9 speakers. So, this will support 5.2.2 but not 5.4.2. That said, 5.2.2 is very enveloping.

Q: QuestionI have speakers on my back porch. When watching a game and grilling I want the back porch speakers to play the audio from the game, which is also playing in 5.1 from DirectTV in the main room. My current device will only play analog inputs to the 2nd room

• A:Answer Yes. 1-3 hdmi ports only. Settings on receiver - 8K enhanced on what ever 1-3 ports you plugged in your series x. Then change any settings on the series x to get the full 4k 120hz. Also make sure yo have a certified 2.1 cable.

Q: QuestionCan I connect the TX-NR6100 to a laptop through both the HDMI & USB ports to play music from the laptop through the speakers connected to the TX-NR6100 Receiver? Also, can I accomplish the same through Wifi?

• A:Answer You can connect through USB port and it works fine, but for HDMI your laptop should have HDMI eARC or ARC (audio return channel) which most laptop computers do not have. The easiest way to connect it is via a network whether wired or wireless is through the dts play-fi app. this receiver supports dts play-fi

• A:Answer Hello Equalizer, You can hook up the eq to the TXNR6100, but you would only be able to equalize one device not the whole receiver. The device would have to be connected to the EQ input and then you would connect the output of the EQ to go into the input of the receiver (except Phono). If you had one of the older receivers that had the amp in and pre-out connections, then you would be able to equalize all the devices that were connected to the receiver instead of just one device. Q: QuestionFollow up question here. I have the center channel speaker with an impedance of 4 ohms while the rest of my other home theater speakers run at 8 ohms. Will this receiver be able compatible with this type of setup?

• A:Answer Hello Santino, It is not recommended to mix the 4 and 8ohm speakers together. That could cause the unit to go into protection and shut down. However, you can mix the 6 and 8ohm together but the 4 ohm should only be with a 4ohm for all speakers. Then you would set the setting within the receiver's menu for speaker impedance to let it know what speakers that are you using for your configuration. Thank you Onkyo

Q: QuestionCan I use external amps with this to power a couple of the speaker channels? I've got two old school integrated amps that have pre/power rca jacks but am new to AV tech and can't figure how to run them with this. Thanks

• A:Answer Yes. There is a set of line out jacks that can be used for a zone 2 or Zone B. Zone B will replicate what is playing in the main zone and Zone 2 can play a different source. but might assign the height channels speaker output to the line out jacks so then your main zone would be limited to 5.1.

• A:Answer Depending on how you set up your system. I got mine on a 5.2.2 setup. You need to make sure you're on Dolby surround. If the movie or show you're watching has surround sound it will come on. Depending on what your watching, you may not hear anything from the back. If you just want to hear all the sound equally played out of all the speakers, make sure you put it on stereo. That will play all the sound equally through every speaker. Again, it really depends on how you set up your system. Is it a 7.1 for 5.1 or 5.2.2?
