Not hot enough and it's not getting done. Try setting it higher and WAIT FOR THE LIGHT TO SAY IT'S HOT ENOUGH. I have mine turned up quite far. Just lift a corner and it's out in one beautiful waffle.

But initially we had one problem with the Oster unit. from Best Buy My brother-in-law - a chef , was visiting us Thanksgiving of . 2016 and solved the equation for us. The secret is about 3 minutes on each side - no more unless you like them darker, DO not overfill the space about one ounce or one and 1/2 ounces of mix should do it. - it's really trial and error. Use a timer at home - also Read the instructions online very helpful. Clean up with a paper towel. After having tried various methods - home made and store bought mixes we settled in on a brand of mix called Krusteaz Belgian Waffle mix - available at most grocery stores in the USA. They have about 5 or 6 different flavors and recipes. The Belgian waffles (about 450 calories) are great with a compote topping of fresh fruit - made separately by taking the fruit, sugar to taste and putting it on a pot on your stove, heating to a boil, letting it cool - make the waffle, then put the compote in the microwave for a minute and put it onto the waffle. ( perfect 525 to 550 calories) makes a great evening meal by itself. We like our waffles golden but not dark so the 3 minute on each side works for us. The Krusteaz mix tastes like fresh donuts from Krispy Creme without the added sugars and grease to fry them, in my opinion. Follow the directions on Oster or on the mix and they should come out great. Hang in there it just takes time. .
