The self cleaner works by adding water to the shoot, turning the knob to self clean and turn on. It does a good job but you still need to clean it some after self cleaning. Self cleaning models are just an extra expense since you will still need to clean it after the self clean.

The Juice Extractor filter auto-clean technology rinses and scrubs hard-to-clean pulp and fiber from the filter in just seconds, for hands-free cleanup. To use the filter auto-clean technology, remove food pusher from food chute and twist open food pusher lid. Fill water compartment inside food pusher to the “MAX” level. Replace and turn lid clockwise to lock it into place on food pusher. Place food pusher back on food chute ensuring the tab on the food pusher aligns with the top of the mechanism for auto-clean. Turn the control knob to the auto-clean position. Press and hold down the food pusher. Auto-clean feature will automatically shut off after 25 seconds. Turn control knob to the off position. Remove and empty out the jar and pulp collector container and wash them. Your juice extractor is now clean and ready to be used again. Never use the Auto Clean mechanism during juicing or in dry condition. The filter auto-clean technology will only clean the filter of the unit. It is still recommended to disassembly the Juice Extractor regularly for cleaning.
