A:Answer For my iPhone 8, I used wireless charging with an OtterBox Defender case. While the wireless charging worked, it did damage the case and I think the battery life in my iPhone. Wireless charging creates heat and with a heavy case like many OtterBox cases, it does not allow the heat to dissipate properly. The outer layer of the case began to peel off, and the battery in the iPhone started to indicate it needed to be replaced prematurely. I now have an iPhone 11 Pro with a new OtterBox Defender and will be charging it via cable.
