“How is this as far as protecting the phone? I understand it’s not as bulky, but can it protect the device?”

I WENT WITH THE OTTERBOX CUS IT FELT MORE RUGGED. I THINK IT WAS 40 DOLLARS, COMPARED TO THE 20 DOLLAR CHEAPOS. LETS FACE IT, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY WELL WORTH THE 40 TO PROTECT A 700 DOLLAR DEVICE. IM A CONSTRUCTION WORKER, AND HAVE DROPPED MINE A FEW TIMES SO FAR, AND THE CASE HAS DONE ITS JOB. NO SCRATCHES OR CRACKS, ETC.... YES, IT PROTECTS THE DEVICE WELL.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have this exact case for my iPhone 8 Plus. I’ll admit I’m a clutz and have dropped my phone MANY times, on the back, side and front of it. And I’m talking dropped it on concrete after slipping out of my hand while outside, also slipped out of my hand walking to my front door and fell face down on a tile floor, etc. after a year of dropping it many times, my phone does not have any damage anywhere. This case completely protected it. I also have the Invisishield glass screen protector. So with those 2 items, my phone has always been protected. I will honestly say when I first got the case, I did not think it would work so great. But if it wasn’t for that case and a screen protector, My phone would have been damaged and cracked many times. I just recently upgraded to the iPhone 11 and I’m also buying this exact same case. Definitely worth the money.

The only danger is if you drop it face down from a certain height onto a hard surface and it lands perfectly flat. There isn't enough material from front to back to absorb the impact, but this is true of most cases. If this is an issue, then you might be better off with a thicker, heavier case like the Defender or LifeProof case.

I don’t throw my phone and haven’t dropped it all all so I don’t have experience to back it up but I feel pretty confident. Around the edge of the phone is pretty thick so I feel like it would absorb most of an impact.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’ve only had this for a short period of time but had the same one for my iPhone 8 Plus for over a year. After many drops I’ve been lucky so far to have no damage to my phone. I do use an otter box screen protector with it.
