The Otterbox case sides extend and provides a bumper on all four sides of the phone so the glass screen is recessed and will not make contact on a flat surface when the phone is face down.

There is a bit of a lip that rolls around the extreme edge of the screen, so there will be some protection from that. A vertical, screen-down flat drop shouldn't make for a problem, but if the screen lands on a projection you may end up with damage.
