The NN-SD945S is a Panasonic Genius microwave, but not a Panasonic Genius "Prestige". This means it has the regular stainless steel enclosure, regular glass window, standard main control knob; and when comparing it to the SD975S a major functional difference is that it lacks the new Cyclonic Wave technology. The NN-SD975S is a Panasonic Genius Prestige version which means it has the upgraded Fingerprint-Free stainless enclosure, half-mirror glass window, main control knob with blue led ring, and other Prestige features; but Panasonic doesn't really articulate clearly what makes a unit a Prestige. This model does include the new Cyclonic Wave technology. Cyclonic Wave tech incorporates a wave generator that rotates inside the wall that "spreads the microwaves around" (my words, not Panasonic's) and this is designed to result in more even cooking of the food with fewer hotspots. The NN-SD987SA is a Panasonic Genius Prestige model that is mostly similar to the NN-SD975S, but lacks the Cyclonic Wave technology. Looks like Panasonic may have superseded this model with the SD975S. I just bought an SD987SA and it includes interior led illumination. Panasonic indicates this in their specs for this model. However, there is nothing in the specs for the SD945 or SD975 models about interior lighting, so don't know for sure what's going on there. I do know that the SD987SA has worked out great for us.
