This model will play 4K Blu Ray dvds. The first answer here was incorrect. To see the 4K resolution, it must be connected to a 4K resolution TV. Up-scaling a normal 2K Blu Ray dvd is possible if the settings are set to enable it. Normal dvds may be up-scaled to 1080p.

For the 4K disc player, minimum I suggest you need to go to DP-UB820-K (Panasonic 4k Disc Player), there's few from Sony too but if you look at forum Panasonic seems to have less issues. Or you go Xbox Series X (which I use), or maybe latest Playstation 5 with Disc Player (not the digital edition).

Also, to enjoy images in 4K/60p, you need an HDMI cable that supports 18 Gbps. In order to upscale a Blu-ray disc to 4K with a Panasonic upscaling Blu-ray player, the content needs to have the resolution of 1920x1080 and progressive (1080p). Make sure that the connected display is ultra HD (4K) compatible. Once connected, on the Panasonic 4K upscaling Blu-ray player, please perform the following steps: Home > Setup > Player Settings > Picture > HDMI output. Select Automatic for HDMI Video Format. Then, please go to Home > Setup > Player Settings > Picture > 24p(4K)/24p Output and select 24p(4K). Hope this helps!
