• Hi, Chris! The KX-TGD832 model does not have this function. Some models that do are KX-TGF975, KX-TG994SK, KX-TGF573S, KX-TGF544B, KX-TGF944B. These models do not have a battery in the base unit. When a power failure occurs, the charged handset temporarily supplies power to the base unit. This allows you to make and receive landline calls using a handset during a power failure. The base unit will not perform any other functions. -M
