Yes and no. While it can play audio CD's it is made for playing video (DVD, Blu-ray and 4K HD) discs. If you have decent audio (stereo) equipment with good speakers, this player will disappoint you with its playback quality. If you are not an audiophile and play your CD's through a home theater setup, then this will fit your needs. It just won't be with the high fidelity that CD's are capable of. However, I am not familiar with high end home theater systems. It is possible that the high end ones are on par with high end stereo (2-channel) systems in which case the sound quality should be very good. Audiophile quality CD players generally start at around $500+ but you need other good components and speakers to bring out the inherent quality of the CD. If you're looking for something to play audio CD's and digital music from your phone or a memory stick, there are players that do this for about $100 and up. Some can load up to five CDs.
