• A:Answer You can buy the extensions individually in a number of places, including BestBuy - look up "Philips Hue LightStrip Plus Extension". However, they are getting harder to come by because these older ones are being phased out in favor of the new Bluetooth strips. Be aware that you can't chain the new Bluetooth strips to the non-bluetooth Lightstrip Plus. Also, be aware that every time you add another extension, you'll lose a bit of brightness, since you're powering more lights with the same amount of power.

• A:Answer Through wifi. You need the Phillips hue bridge if you don't have one already.. the hue bridge is hardwired to a router.

• A:Answer Bluetooth version is the newer model and doesn't require the Hue hub to control, though I believe bluetooth control doesn't allow any sort of automation. Both models can be controlled and automated through the Hue hub, however.

Q: QuestionI want to use the 2m strip on my desk and the 1m extension by my TV. Am I able to use the 1m extension independently from the 2m base kit? If so, I would assume that I'd need a 2nd adapter and maybe something else. Where can that be purchased?

• A:Answer If you want to control them separately, you'd need another base kit. You could remotely wire up the extension in a different location with third party accessories (i.e. from Litcessory), which is what I did for my undercabinet lights, but both segments would be controlled as one unit.

Q: QuestionThis is the V3 variant of hue's lightstrip, but you've increased the price to the same amount as the newer V4 variant, which has additional features. Is this pricing change a mistake, and would you honor the pricing you had several weeks ago?

• A:Answer The price of both versions seems to be varying rapidly. The pricing noted in the question in mid January 2021 had just changed significantly and has again changed significantly in just the 3 weeks before this answer was written. Both the V3 and V4 prices have moderated substantially since mid January. This V3 kit with Zigbee only controller and 3m of LED strip is within $10 of its early January 2021 price. The V4 kit with Bluetooth and Zigbee controller and 2m of LED strip is around $10 more than this kit. Given the combination of a product phase-out and the unique economics of the year, periodic fluctuations in availability and pricing may occur from time to time. It may be better to buy when the price is good-enough this year and shop for the best price next year.

Q: QuestionIf I cut my lightstrip to make it shorter, can i use the portion I cut as an extension on another lightstrip or connect it at a 90 degree angle to my lightstrip? (It appears that an "elbow" like connector came with the strip.

• A:Answer Yes, you can then bridge the cut portions together to form longer runs. Just be sure to use the proper connectors to do so. A simple Google search will show you videos on how to do so.

• A:Answer You cant? I would contact Phillips customer support to be sure, but the only two ways to change the color is via bluetooth on your phone or with the Hub. I use the hub and wifi. If you dont have one, get one. Its worth it.

• A:Answer These are gen 3.As long as you have a Hue hub, they will all work together. The issue arises if you don't have a hub, in which case gen 4 with bluetooth will not work with the previous generations.
