A:AnswerI don't know if it will work or not!
Go to the HP customer support web-site, put in your computer type and model number and ask for what RAM Memory you should install in your laptop!
I would think the (HP) would know best?
A:AnswerI have been working on Dells for years. Almost any new PC should have DDR4 which is standard. Current Video cards are utilizing DDR4.
Also PCs running large video cards may use 16GB Main memory. But utilize 8GB DDR5 on the video card MEMORY.
A:AnswerYes. That's the short answer.
PCMag.com has the listed spec: The ThinkPad X240 "supports a maximum of one 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3L-1600MHz SODIMM Memory." Things to consider though...
8GB is the maximum RAM for this device. If you bought aftermarket, they probably put in a 4GB RAM to run the bells and whistles. Hold onto the RAM board as you may find a use for it when you get your next computer and it has 2 RAM slots. 12 GB v 8 GB is nice.
The chip is advertised as a DDR3 but the packaging states that the power consumption is 1.35V; this makes it a DDR3L (L = low voltage). Previous standard was 1.5V. And yes, it's compatible. (I sure wish BB would QC their pages.)
