The faster speeds at 3.2ghz is the reason for the price jump. It's specialized memory. if your MB cannot support the faster speeds then it's pointless to get, but if it can - you will see a performance boost. Oddly to note - the more memory you have in your PC, the longer your boot times will be. So even if you have the fastest memory, if you have too much of it (really over 16gb) you will think it is slower initially on the boot as compared to lower speed cheaper memory. This memory is designed for gaming which sees minor befits in FPS and overall game play once started as compared to slower memory. Memory itself if expensive right now, it's just the way the market fluctuates. There is not a common standard for computers so many different MB's use different speeds of memory which cause a rift because manufactures cannot make as much memory since there are so many variations of it today. Once older standards drop off their serviceable shelf life, this memory will start to come down in price since manufactures will not need to produce the old style of memory. That all being said, this particular memory is also not that expensive - it regularly goes on sale for around $100 (Price I paid for it)- when it's not on sale it usually means Best Buy does not have it in stock or enough quantity to justify a sale. I used to work at Best Buy about 12 years ago - their processes have not changed for sales and stock advertisements to customers. When something is on sale, they have a lot of stock and want to get rid of it fast.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not sure what 32gb kits you're looking at, but this isn't anywhere near the same price for 32gb kits. Keep in mind, this is 3200mhz speeds at Cas16. That's going to be much faster than say 2400mhz at Cas18. The lower the better. The rated Mhz, however, is better the higher it is. Also, make sure it's made for Intel or AMD, depending on what you have. There will be a difference in performance based on what it's designed for. For example, AMD CPU prefer lower CAS ratings over bandwidth. Intel is the reverse. It's all about how the memory controller utilizes the RAM. In summary, the lower the CAS rating combined with the higher the Mhz (in this case 3200mhz Cas16) the more of a premium you will pay over generic speed RAM.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well actually 32gb kits go for about $140 to $160 now and this ram kit is only $77.99. It is a great price from the other ones as well because the other competitors are actually more expensive and this is a great alternative if you want to have the best bang for your buck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Brandon's answer above is incorrect. He states this is a 32GB kit, whereas this is a 16GB kit. MAX SPEED is 3.2GHz! Sorry old man.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Honestly, who knows, This is the worst ram I have ever bought, it can't even oc to the factory oc
