The main and pretty much only difference in the two games are the Pokémon. There are version exclusive Pokémon for each game, the most known and obvious being the two legendaries for the game: Zacian in Sword & Zamazenta in Shield, On top of that, there are also 1 or 2 different gym leaders in the games. So for the most part, they are the exact same, just a few small differences. I would suggest going on serebi and looking into each game and especially the version exclusive pokémon. hope this helps!
