how do I get the batteries out to replace them? null

Unscrew the end cap opposite the lens end. A battery cartridge slides out.

The end cap unscrews and you can slide out the internal battery sleeve. Simply replace the 9AA batteries in the sleeve and re-insert and screw the back cap back on.
