If your case is not MagSafe friendly, it will not work.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It works magnetically, so if the magnetic decides you have for your iPhone (charger, for example) stick to your phone through your otterbox, then you're set. I had an apple case and it was perfect. It was hard to separate the socket from the case. The case broke in a corner after a fall and I replaced it with a clear non-descriptive case and now the socket doesn't stick as securely.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’ve heard the otter boxes aren’t really magasafe. It was discussed in the reviews online.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes - as long as the case works with other mag safe devices

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As long as the case also has MagSafe it will work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will work on the OtterBox Defender XT series case that is designed for MagSafe. I use it on that case currently and it’s awesome. It will not, however, work on the traditional Defender or Commuter cases that don’t formally support MagSafe. Even though they may handle wireless charging, they don’t have the magnetic support for this accessory.
