The charger itself plugs into the Nintendo Switch dock via USB (the dock specifically has an extra USB for items like this under the panel where the HDMI and power cable go).

You plug the dock into the wall, via usb power adapter (like a phone charger). This isn't a "portable" charger.

Plug the USB cord into one of the USB ports on the Switch box.

There is an un Detachable 2.5 foot usb cable that can plug into your switch dock USB ports or you can purchase the Nintendo USB AC charging Brick that will provide you plenty of stable power on 5 volts @1.5 Amp Hours. Each joycon only requires 5 volts @100mA and the power A Charging dock only requires 5 volts @ 500 mA to charge 2 pairs of joycons at the same time. Hope this helps.

You plug it into USB port you can buy a USB to wall plug I'm sure if you want to plug into wall

Plug the attached USB into one of the USB ports in the Switch dock and then slide the Joy Cons over the posts like you slide them into the Joy Con grip. You can also plug the USB into a smart USB power supply (smart so it doesn't under/over volt).

The joycons slide into the dock which comes with a USB cord that can connect to the switch.

This plugs into the wall and the controllers charge by plugging into the dock.
