How do you properly dispose used filters? Please null

If you don't mind paying a small fee, recyclewaterfilters.com can do it for you. I stash my used filters and ship to them a couple times a year. Their website has a list of all the brands they accept (e.g. the common ones like PUR & Brita) as well as all refrigerator water filters. They'll take pretty much anything.
