Yes you can use the charging cable and have a wired mouse.

Yep. You can keep it plugged in if you want. However, be aware that if you do so, the lighting features don't work 100% and you'll notice occasional flickering on the mouse. Seems like for the synapse/chroma light features to work optimally, the mouse must remain wireless. That doesn't stop me from keeping it plugged in though.
