It depends on your tv. Newer flatscreens will have optical audio outputs but even older tube tv should have some sort of audio output. Check on the back of your tv for an audio output and get the right cable to hook it to your DVD player / home theatre. then pick the right output from the top right of your DVD player remote.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For the system to output sound from an external source, you have to run that sound through the system. I assume you've got some sort of broadcast television signal coming in either from a cable box or perhaps form an over the air box. Regardless, it has to run THROUGH this system for it to output the sound. If you do that, then you can use the remote that came with this unit to select your desired source and you'll get output from that source. You have to be patient with these things and make sure the wiring is correct or you'll get oddness.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is designed to work with tv's but needs to be hooked up with RCA cables and older TV's do not have them. Sorry
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will work without having to play a dvd. Like if you wanted to use it for TV audio and a video game audio. You don't even have to ever use the dvd and I cant imagine that it would last very long anyway. This is one of the cheapest made units ive ever seen. Im taking mine back and getting the sony BDVE2100 from walmart. If you just looking for a simple and cheap surround sound, then this will make you happy. Or for a dorm room, this would be great. NOT in a large livingroom with high device demand, like tv, xbox, computer, and smart devices.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The purchase of a receiver would do what you want. It would enable you to select your input such as , DVDs,cable, satellite etc, and the sound would come from the selected device while still on screen. There are some good ones available at best buy that can do what you want and still not break the bank. You will need speakers for the sound but an all in one system is available usually at a cheaper price.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can use this for more than the dvd player. The red and white cable connect from your cable receiver to the surround sound and a separate yellow cable runs from cable box directly to the tv. This should be the case for most home theater systems. Good luck.
