Yes, you need to buy battery and charger for a hero 9 or 10, they are bigger and last longer than the older ones.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The batteries for the HERO9 Black are a new size and shape, so they will not work with the HERO6 or with the Dual Battery Charger for that model. Likewise, the HERO6 batteries won't work with the HERO9 or the Dual Battery Charger for the HERO9. The USB-C charging cable that you have for your HERO6 will still work with the HERO9 though, so you can use that same cable to charge the batteries in the camera and to power the Dual Battery Chargers.
