It depends on which is closer the chime pro or is the router closer.

The Chime Pro is both a doorbell extender (I can't hear the doorbell in parts of my house) AND a WiFi extender (my doorbell has a weak WiFi connection to my home network). You can use it for both or either one alone. If your Ring doorbell has a problem staying connected to your WiFi router or has a weak WiFi signal, then plug in the Chime somewhere between the doorbell and WiFi router and connect the doorbell to the Chime network. The Chime Pro will boost the WiFi signal to ensure your doorbell stays connected. (It will also chime when your doorbell rings unless you turn that function off.) If your doorbell signal is not a problem, leave the Doorbell connected directly to WiFi and put the chime somewhere in the house where you need a doorbell but can't hear the home doorbell. In my home, I have a Chime Pro just 10 ft from my home doorbell. The doorbell has no problem accessing my WiFi, but two cameras mounted under the eaves outside cannot connect to WiFi reliably. My Chime Pro is acting like a WiFi extender so the cameras work great, But I turned off the doorbell function on this Chime because I don't need two separate doorbell sounds 10 ft from each other. I also have a separate Chime Pro in an upstairs utility room because we couldn't hear the house doorbell in the upstairs bedroom. Now we can.

A Chime Pro is a great solution if you want to extend wifi to your Ring devices. Generally, a single Chime Pro can effectively improve connectivity to your Ring devices in a two- to three-bedroom home or if your devices are located close together.
