You have to manually slide the cover either left or right. For privacy, you can slide the cover on front to cover the camera. It does not open or close automatically. Hope this helps.

When you slide it in front of the camera lens, the Ring Indoor Cam's camera and mic will turn off. When you're ready to turn your Ring Indoor Cam back on, just swivel the privacy cover to the side. If you're ever unsure how you left it, you can check the status of your camera in the Ring app at any time.
