  • QuestionHow far can the sensor be from the bridge or WiFi. My driveway is long.

    Asked by Dressymess.

    • Answer Hello Dressymess, Great question! The useful range between your Bridge and other Ring Smart Lighting products depends on the number of obstructions between them, and the materials they’re made of. The RF signal has a greater range than wifi, but you may have to experiment with your devices to find an optimal position. • QuestionCan this be mounted onto a house made of brick? If not, what can I mount it to outside?

    Asked by Ihatemyhp.

    • Answer Hello Shopper777543, Great question! Yes, the Ring Motion Sensor can be placed on a brick surface. Here are step-by-step instructions for doing so: Slide the base down to remove it from your Motion Sensor. If installing on a masonry surface, use the mounting plate as a template to mark pilot holes. Then drill the holes and insert the anchors. Hold the base firmly against the surface and drive in the two mounting screws. Slide the motion sensor back onto its base until it clicks into place. • Questiondo i have to have a hub for this to work

    Asked by whyme.

    • Answer Hi whyme. Good question. Yes, the Ring Motion Sensor requires a Ring Alarm Base Station in order to work. The Ring Alarm Base Station is the center of your entire Ring Alarm security system. The Ring Alarm Motion Detector has multiple motion detection sensitivity settings that can help protect your home or business while avoiding false alarms. These settings are also useful for avoiding false alarms, especially if you have pets. Visit our support center for more information. • QuestionWill the camera work at night?

    Asked by SheRox.

    • Answer Hello SheRox, Yes, all Ring security cameras use IR (infrared) lighting for night vision. Certain models of Ring devices have a night vision feature that allows you to see through the camera in low light conditions. By using infrared light, the camera can create a black and white image that is then beamed to the Live View in your app. By turning the color night vision feature on, the camera will use whatever ambient light is available to try and create a "false color" image in your Live View. This lets you get a better sense of what's happening in the image by creating a false sense of color depth. Here is a helpful article regarding this feature: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038559351-Understanding-Color-Night-Vision-and-Troubleshooting-Night-Vision. • QuestionCan be paired with tuya smart app ???

    Asked by Dassault.

    • Answer No, it will not work with tuya. Additionally, you need a RING bridge sold separately for it to even function with the RING system.

  • QuestionI wanna get two of these to place by my motorcycle outside so I know if anyone walks up to it at night are these waterproof or at least water resistant if I put them under a Canopy

    Asked by Irish.

    • Answer RING states that they are completely weatherproof and designed to be out in the elements. I have three of them outside, two attached to the underside of my deck to give them some protection from the elements, but one is in the open which is used for the same reason you’re thinking about. It covers my car which is parked outside. It works great and shows no signs of wear or deterioration from exposure to the weather.

  • QuestionWill the sensor work with out a bridge.? I have 3 stick up cameras and need more coverage.

    Asked by Mando.

  • QuestionCan this device be used on a bike?

    Asked by Barnyard.

    • Answer Only if the bike is within range of the RING bridge which is necessary for it to function. Additionally, you need Wi-fi for it to function. I have them next to my car to detect motion and it works great.

  • QuestionCan I use this as a dash cam for parking my car

    Asked by RokiNarai.

    • Answer It will not work as a dash cam. It is not a camera. It only detects motion. Also it requires Wi-fi to function.

  • QuestionWill this sensor go off when somebody walks in front of it in your home

    Asked by Nate.

    • Answer Yes, that’s what it is supposed to do, but like all other RING devises, you can adjust the motion area distance to reduce the coverage area which would eliminate activation like when someone is walking by on a sidewalk for instance.

  • QuestionHow far from home will this device reach? Our mailbox is a long distance from our home. We have WiFi but it doesn’t reach our mailbox

    Asked by Curious.

    • Answer There are several factors that can affect the proper operation of these motion detectors. They include any obstacles/obstructions that could interfere with its reception such as brick walls, appliances etc. These variables make it difficult to determine if in fact they will work in Your circumstance. I have mine set about 50 feet from my RING bridge, which needs to be our purchased separately in order for it to operate. Mine works fine. I attached a picture of the bridge you need.
