It uses D batteries, not rechargeable batteries so there is no recharging. They claim a year on four D batteries with typical usage. Since the product hasn't been out for a year, there has been no real world test of that. The app will tell you when the batteries are low.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unless there is another pathlight that I'm unaware of....these take 4 D cell batteries. But they seem to last really well. I've had mine for a month now, and they are still reading at full power, through the Ring app. I did not buy rechargeable batteries, just regular Duracle.
