All Ring doorbells /cameras depend on a strong WiFi signal in order to work. If the WiFi signal is weak, your doorbell/Camera will be offline. "Events" are stored in the "cloud" for two months provided that you maintain a current subscription. First 30 days included. $ 30.00 per year thereafter. You can download "events" at any time to your phone, computer, tablet, etc. for long term archival. It does not "call" your phone. It notifies you of an "event" via a "pop up" to your phone, computer, tablet, etc.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you will need a WiFi connection. The connection cannot be too faint (at least 2-3 bars). If you get the Ring Pro bundle with Chime Pro, the latter will also function as a WiFi extender for your Ring Pro. So if your WiFi signal is faint at the door, then you can deploy the Chime in between your router and the door and have Ring connect to your Chime.
