The Ring Doorbell can connect directly to the Chime Pro. You can then connect your Chime Pro to your home wireless network. In this way it does work as a range extender. You can also connect the Ring Doorbell directly to your home network.

Yes, the Ring Chime Pro when plugged into a standard wall socket, the Ring Chime Pro extends the reach of your router's wifi network, extending it out to wherever you have placed a Ring device. The Chime Pro also produces an audio signal whenever you receive an alert from a Ring device. The Ring Chime Pro connects to 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz wifi. Ideally, the Chime Pro should be set up halfway between your Ring device and your wifi router.
