The ring doorbell 2 has the option to use the battery pack or being hardwired. The ring pro can only be hard wired.

Please try again later.With video pro, you can draw boxes in the video to specifically select motion detection zones (see https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005561866-Utilizing-Motion-Zones-with-your-Ring-Doorbell-Pro). With Doorbell 2, you can just select "ranges/zones" for motion detection (see https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003066906-Utilizing-Motion-Detection-with-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2). I went with the "pro" version and happy with how the motion detection works.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Pro version is little narrower and can be used with 5 ghz wifi( as far as I know). and pro version must be hardwired all the time. I don't think there is a battery in pro version.
