Hello, Yes you can. You can get a direct wire kit from ring to hook to a transformer without a doorbell. You can also get a plug in transformer. Ring now sells a plug in transformer.

The doorbell works best when replacing your existing doorbell using the existing wiring. However it can be installed wireless but will then rely on a battery which you will have to charge periodically. I recommend replacing your existing doorbell with the ring. If you do get an electrician he shouldn’t have any problems installing it either way.
