They CAN be hard-wired into any existing doorbell system or if you do not have any current door bell, you can use the units internal battery that lasts several months at a time. Its pretty flexible.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is hardwired if you want it to be: it can be attached to your existing doorbell wiring or you can use the built in lithium battery to operate it. I recommend going with the hardwire option because you can set it and forget it. It is not hard to hardwire it: assuming you already have a hardwired door bell, it is simply a matter of connecting those two wires to the terminals on the Ring mounting plate. It then accomplishes two things: it still rings your normal house chime and it activates the Ring camera and alert on your Ring App, capturing video and providing a live feed to interact with the person at the front door. Very slick
