You do not need a chime to use this Ring, but you will not have an audible sound. Your Ring app will notify you when it is activated. Ring does not work with other brands. Instructions will have you bypass your previous doorbell chime during installation.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure what you mean by a "Chime" doorbell, but if it is Ring brand, I don't know the answer. This particular doorbell connects to the existing wiring of your old doorbell, if you had one. Your old doorbell no longer works, it is bypassed. You now get notifications of activity at your door on your iphone, ipad, Alexa, etc.
