Hello, Tony. The Ring Video Doorbell Pro can only be hardwired to an existing doorbell transformer that is rated 16-24VAC, 50/60HZ. There is no battery option for this unit. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The most important thing is how much voltage is available from your current home doorbell. Some ring doorbells require at least 15 volts so you should find out the minimum voltage requirement for the particular ring doorbell you want to buy. You could check the voltage by disconnecting the two wires on your doorbell switch and checking across them with an A/C voltmeter. If you buy one that can be battery powered, then it will at least work off the battery but may not work wired unless your current system has enough voltage.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can but the main question is how much voltage does your home transformer supply. Some ring doorbells require a minimum of 15 volts and not all home transformers supply that voltage. I got the ring pro but luckily my home transformer supplies 19 volts. You can measure it by going across your doorbell wires with an A/C voltmeter. Check the minimum voltage required for the ring doorbell you are interested in. A battery model will avoid this problem.
