No. These notebooks are completely analog and do not plug in to or connect to anything, nor do they require any electricity or batteries. They rely upon the material of the pages, and the use of specific erasable (Pilot Frixion) pens. You simply use the Frixion pens to write on the pages of the notebook, just as you would any other notebook. When finished writing, you then utilize an app installed on your phone, and your phone's built in camera to "scan" the pages, and then direct them to any number of places (email, DropBox, OneNote) etc. depending on how you have your app set up.

But each page has a barcode to scan at the bottom left so you can scan the page and save it to a file once you set it up then you can clean the page off and move on to the next. Its not a smart notebook though.
