A:AnswerThis is not a switch. It splits the signal and sends to both outputs at the same time. You don't have the ability to send only to one or the other.
A:AnswerNo, it will not work in that direction. You don't need a splitter, you need a switcher. An HDMI splitter is designed to take a single HDMI source and feed it to 2 separate monitors simultaneously. It only operates in one direction and at one resolution. The splitter typically has a circuit that tests the two monitors for resolution specifications and picks one compatible with both, but better on one. If you try using it to combine both into one output, you can damage your equipment and most likely will let the smoke out of the splitter.
Your system requires one of the following devices:
(1) An HDMI switch matrix with at least two HDMI source connections and 1 HDMI output connection. The Rocketfish™ 4 Port HDMI Switch (Model: RF-G1185) is available from Best Buy for $69.99. It has 4 source inputs for a couple of more devices later on, but it's really the best no frills option out there.
OR
(2) A home theater receiver with 2 or more HDMI inputs and at least one HDMI output. The receiver contains the switching circuits required to pass the cable box or DVD player to the TV at the best possible resolution that the device and TV will support. This option also has the advantage of having an amplifier to connect some nice speakers to, resulting in a much better overall viewing experience! Best Buy has the Pioneer 5.1 Channel A/V Home Theater Receiver with 4K Ultra High Definition and 3D HDMI pass through (Model: VSX-530-K) on sale for an incredible $179.99! (That's $70 bucks off regular!) Another plus with this option is that you won't be sorry you spent $70 on that switch, when you decide you want a receiver a few months down the road...
I spent a lot of time (and money) trying to make a work-around for my system that includes a 3D BluRay, home theater PC, X-Box, Wii, WD-TV media box, plasma flat screen and 3D overhead projector. I learned quite a bit about HDMI characteristics and ultimately replaced my older receiver with a new Pioneer home theater receiver with 3D pass through, and a 3 source by 2 output HDMI switch to get it all connected together.
Good luck and happy viewing!
Disclaimer:
No, I don't work for Best Buy, I'm just a huge fan!
A:AnswerWhat you input into the splitter will be put on both monitors hooked up to the outputs. You would need two separate hdmi outputs from your computer to show different outputs on your monitors.
A:AnswerYou need a Blu-Ray Player with 2 HDMI outputs. One goes to 3D HDTV for Video and the second HDMI (SUB) goes to your NON 3D AVR for audio ONLY.. Then go to the Player settings and follow manual. Panasonic has 3D player with 2 HDMI out,
You don"t need splitter.
A:AnswerThe device you are mentioning, only duplicates the input, to 2 monitors. It does not create a "screen extension" like what you are asking for. The only way to do what you are asking is to use 2 different outputs from your laptop, i would suggest the hdmi port for one screen, and then the VGA for the other screen. Then go into your graphics properties and make sure its on "extend" instead of Duplicate.
A:AnswerThe RF-G1182 uses the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) for the display connected to Output 1. You must connect the Display with the lowest resolution capability to Output 1 to allow the device to work correctly. Make sure you unplug the TVs, splitter, and cable box when connecting the HDMI cables. Once everything is connected correctly and the devices have been without power for 30 seconds, plug the cable box in, once the box is booted up plug the splitter in, and finally plug both TVs in.
A:AnswerThis Rocketfish splitter does nothing with the resolution of the signal, all this device does is take in an HDMI signal and split it into two identical signals. If one of your TVs is only capable of displaying a 720 signal, your source device would have to be set to 720 so both TVs receive a compatible signal.
A:AnswerWith HDCP (High Definition Copyright Protection) most likely causing the issue, I'm unable to answer your question. There are many variables, so in this instance I would suggest trying your idea under the 14 day return policy.
A:AnswerThis is an HDMI splitter. It takes 1 input and sends the signal to 2 outputs. You want the RF-G1185. It allows multiple inputs into a signle HDMI port on your TV.
A:AnswerYou can take the splitter into your local Best Buy's Geek Squad counter for testing. If the unit was taken out by the lighting strike it would not be covered under warranty as acts of God are not covered.
A:AnswerMake sure you connect the display with the lowest resolution to the output number one. You may also need to adjust the refresh rate your computer is outputting at. Turn off all the devices and unplug the displays from power for a full 30 seconds. Plug the HDMI splitter back in, then turn on the computer, then plug in the display on output one, and finally plug in the 2nd display. That should reset the HDMI connection within the devices.
A:AnswerYes. It passes on the entire signal. I use it to send my DirecTV signal to my receiver as well as directly to the TV. This way I don't always have to have the receiver on.
A:AnswerThis is NOT the product your looking for. What you are describing is a switch, not a splitter. A splitter takes 1 input and makes 2 output. A switch takes 2 inputs and makes 1 output.
