If you look at your speaker wire you will notice that one of the two strands is marked with "+" symbols. This helps you connect the red (+) on your amp/receiver to the red (+) terminal on your speakers. Do the same for black (-). If you switch from red on the amp end to black on your speaker it will be out of phase and will not create sound properly. You will definitely notice it.

It doesn't matter if you connect them to the black ports or the red ports, So long as that one wire is only connected to either both Black ports on both sides or both red ports on both sides.
