• The Protected LED lights when surge protection is working. Replace the surge protector if it turns off. The Grounded LED lights when a properly grounded AC outlet is detected. If this LED does not light, contact a certified licensed electrician to inspect your wiring.

• If you have ever had a surge of electricity such as lightning hitting your house, you should replace it. Typically you would know the product has been hit because it will no longer work. It basically destroys it instead of what you are plugging into it. Hope that helps.

• Usually based on the universal lifespan of electrical products such as power strips and surge protectors is normally 10 years max. So it is not so much as trying to see if it is still protecting or not but what is the overall age of the device.
