Same problem and nobody seems to have a decent answer. So much for “universal”.

You should see a slot that you slip the bracket into you turn the wall mount bracket up so that the sound bar cradles into it. The bracket cradles in the back into the circular area in back, it looks a little weird but you insert the square section first then it should rest flat. once you insert it looks like two prongs facing upward toward the ceiling with a single hole on the back of the bracket that attaches to the wall. The brackets spacing is exactly 16 inches apart to match your studs. If you don't have studs make your holes the use the screws for dry wall mounting. If you are not sure talk to some at your local hardware and explain that you are minting into drywall without studs. I hope this helps.
