go to the best buy web site look up roku. select the buyers reviews i found that they cover most questions. i found a roku. at the goodwill store for 25$ it did not have the box.so i looked it up by the model number and found that it was a roku 2.i set it up it works fine. the reviews i read said that their are roku 2 3 and 4. plus the roku stick .the most current one is roku 4 however the reviews state that its internal fan makes a lot of noise and it gets hot. so it seems that the newest is not always the best. hope this helps even though it may be a little late

Please try again later.I'm not sure why Roku still sells the Roku 1 & 2....but if your TV has an available HDMI port...go with either the Roku Stick, Roku 3, or the recently released Roku 4. The Roku stick doesn't come with a remote, and has less powerful hardware than the set-top-boxes....but is smaller and lower profile, if that's important to you. There isn't much difference between Roku 3 & Roku 4 from what I can tell....other than a bump in the hardware specs. Features are largely the same. Both come with a remote, that has an accelerometer built in for motion controls / games and a headphone jack that you can plug a headset in and listen to what's playing without disturbing anyone else.
