Roku doesn't need cable but does require internet. Who you chose to be your internet provider doesn't matter, but you will need WiFi. Roku is a great way to cut cable as we offer 500+ free live TV channels on the Roku Channel as well as the most apps out of any smart platform. Roku itself has no monthly fees but there are apps such as Netflix, Disney+, etc that require their own subscriptions.

Note that this is just the "smart" TV part.
