Did you try to log in with your password and email. It should work. Mine works fine and I have an off brand tv.

You'll want to make sure that the device you're using to authenticate HBO Max is on the same network as your Roku Express. If you're still having issues authenticating HBO Max I would recommend removing the channel and re-adding it to your Roku Express. To remove a channel start by pressing the Home button on your Roku remote. Then move to the right and highlight the channel you wish to remove. Followed by pressing the Star button on your Roku remote to open the options menu. Finally select Remove channel and confirm when prompted.
