You need one main Xfinity box (like the DVR in the living room) on your wireless network, Then any satellite boxes for other tv's around the house can all be replaced with a Roku Express or Premium with the Xfinity Stream app available for download. You can then return those boxes to Comcast and save $10 a month/each. FYI : Many Samsung TV's now have the Xfinity Stream app available. Also soon LG and Sony.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was told by a Comcast man minutes ago that you can purchase your own combo router/modem, then purchase Roku's for every TV. He set up new service and ordered me zero boxes for my triple play.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I work for Comcast. As of Nov, 2020 - Roku has Xfinity Stream Beta app which allows you to watch all your live tv, recordings, and rent/ purchased content when used at your own home (the Xfinity beta app won’t work off any other network except your assigned WiFi from Xfinity from owned or rented internet equipment). Roku has many perks with their own content and other apps which can be used out side of your home. For Xfinity, you don’t need to rent any boxes. But there are a few features lacking: I’ve not been able to rewinding live tv on Roku, and the voice remote manages Roku’s menu, not features of the apps like searching for a show or channel on the Xfinity app only. Using the Xfinity app, you will get access to your subscription content saving the latest rental fees of $5 for the main box and $9.95 for additional box. You can stream upto 4 devices at the same time, but you can have several devices registered with the app.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No cable box needed, just internet and wifi
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It really depends on the channels that you watch. This is not a replacement for your cable box. This is for streaming channels from apps avail. Not all channels have apps for them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need some provider for the internet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you like the programming from Xfinity then keep it. The ROKU box does not replace that service; it is a service all its own with programs of its own choosing, For example, you probably will NOT be able to access local channels on the ROKU.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can cancel cable but the Roku needs the internet to work. Well worth it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was told by Comcast today that you do not need any boxes at all. You only need to download the Xfinity streaming app to any smart tv/Roku device you want to watch your purchased cable package on. (or Firestick if that's what you have. I have none of these, that's why I am researching) I assume you can use any other Roku services as well, but as far as Xfinity, you only need the Xfinity streaming app. No boxes unless you don't have the app.
